How to Hang a Window Box Hayrack, and Hardware to use.

HANGING YOUR WINDOW HAYRACKS

Our window hayracks are ready to mount--all you need is the hardware, depending on the type of exterior wall you are mounting the hayracks to.   Window hayrack planters can be installed under windows, on walls, or railings.  If you want to place a window hayrack on a deck with wooden rails, you will want to use our Hayrack Brackets for Decks with Wooden Railings.  These brackets can be used to support any size hayrack without damaging your wooden railings.

Another factor would be the size of the hayrack you are mounting.  We have J-Hooks that can be screwed into the wall, and are recommended for holding small to medium planters up to 36 inches in length.  For larger hayracks, use plated lag bolts or carriage bolts about 2 ½” long with 1 ½” o.d. washers.  Masonry requires plastic anchors for masonry bolts and washers.  These can be purchased at your local hardware store.

For houses with vinyl siding, we have strong, stainless steel hooks designed exclusively for use on Vinyl Siding.   No holes - No nails - and No Adhesives!   Easy to install, a pair of Hooks for Vinyl Siding will hold a 24 lb. hayrack.   Just use more hooks for larger hayracks.

Please contact Mitch at 814-329-5312 if you have any questions about installing a window hayrack or window box planter.  Just let him know what size hayrack you are interested in and the type of exterior wall you are going to hang the hayrack to, and he can recommend to you how to hang it.

HARDWARE TO USE TO HANG YOUR WINDOW HAYRACKS

Wood Siding & Railings – Use plated lag bolts at least 2 ½” long with 1 ¼” o.d. washers.  Hold empty hayrack in position and drill pilot holes at the “bumps” in top rear bar, which are designed to be gripped by the washers.  For extra security, install a third bolt and washer in center of lowest bar.

Masonry – Same as on wood siding, but make the holes in the masonry with a masonry drill bit, large enough to install plastic or lead anchors for masonry bolts.

Iron Railings – For an easy and inexpensive fastener, use hose clamps that you can purchase at any hardware store to fasten your window hayracks.
